Polina Piëch (b.1996, Russia) lives and works in London. She is a multidisciplinary artist working with analogue photography to create immersive spaces that incorporate sound and scent, evoking tactility of nature's elements - such as water, air, earth and fire.
She is graduating this year with an MA in Photography from the Royal College of Art (RCA).
Piëch’s practice explores notions of movement found in the natural world. Using a dynamic, light-driven technique, Piëch focuses on landscapes and the four elemental forces. Her work evokes texture and painterly qualities, referencing the sublime.
Inspired by photojournalism’s immediacy, Piëch depicts nature’s perpetual motion, juxtaposing environmental cycles with humanity’s restless pursuit of progress. Beyond photographic work, Piëch incorporates sound or scent, to create immersive environments to highlight humanity’s search for meaning and connection through the senses. She urges the viewer to pause and embrace the process of self-reflection, surrendering to the themes of deep time.
